What is AI doing today?

A review by the Pitch Avatar team to evaluate the integration of AI tools in our lives.

Note: In this text, the term “artificial intelligence” is used in its broadest sense. By it, we mean engineering and software solutions for activities typically associated with the application of human intellect. In other words, these are programs and robots for physical and intellectual tasks that were previously performed only by humans. Looking ahead, we are talking about solving problems that exceed the capabilities of human intelligence.

Ideally, specialists involved in the development and implementation of AI strive to create programs and devices whose level of intelligence not only matches but surpasses human intelligence. Why? So that machines can perform various tasks as well as or better than humans.

Speaking of an ideal example—consider the creation of autonomous transport systems entirely controlled and maintained by AI. This would completely eliminate human error from transportation, which is a major cause of accidents and disasters.

Expanding on this, imagine autonomous spacecraft operated by AI, with servicing, research, and landing teams composed of robots. These could ensure safe space exploration and economic exploitation of extraterrestrial resources.

It is clear that achieving these goals is an extremely complex task. Not surprisingly, it involves not only engineers and programmers but also psychologists, economists, biologists, and even philosophers.

However, there is no doubt that sooner or later, a universal AI that has surpassed the singularity threshold will be created. To treat this as pure fantasy is shortsighted. Why are we so sure? Because the current level of AI integration, which was seen as fantastical just a couple of decades ago, is now a reality.

To provide evidence, we attempted to identify areas where AI, at its current level of development, is deeply integrated to the extent that these sectors would suffer significant losses without it.

Entertainment

When discussing AI in this sector, two examples immediately come to mind: cinema and video games.

Starting with cinema, AI has brought films to a fundamentally new level; special effects, virtual sets, crowds, and even characters are created using AI—both through motion capture technology and entirely virtual means.

AI’s significance is perhaps even greater in video games. AI is the brain behind a substantial part of complex modern games. Its main task is to manage the storyline and personalize reactions for each user. Additionally, AI helps create and test games, with a crucial role in animation and realistic game mechanics.

For managers in both industries, AI analysis tools have become invaluable, helping to determine target audiences and their preferences.

Of course, AI’s role in entertainment goes beyond cinema and video games. AI is used to write and arrange music, play traditional board games, create jokes, design artworks and collages, write fanfiction, find new solutions for various hobbies, and much more. Universal chatbots are often used for light, entertaining conversations.

Looking to the future, the creation of AI toys and other AI robots for leisure is a promising development in the entertainment sector.

Education

In education, AI has had an impact comparable to the spread of computers or the internet. Primarily, this concerns universal neural networks like ChatGPT. Today, they successfully act as multi-subject tutors for schoolchildren and students and as assistants to school teachers and university professors. AI-based tools have significantly improved the quality of remote education and enabled high adaptability and personalization of educational materials.

In this direction, we cannot ignore the potential of creating educational presentations and lectures with virtual digital twins like our Pitch Avatar.

In the future, one of the most promising applications of AI in education will likely be the creation of virtual learning platforms where special AI agents serve as teachers and professors.

Business and Marketing

The widespread use of AI products by modern entrepreneurs is one of the most practical achievements of AI creators. From curious artifacts like, “Look, this program can write poems and draw pictures!” AI has become an effective tool for customer engagement and revenue generation. This has become one of the main incentives for improving and creating new AI-based solutions.

Here are the main tasks AI helps solve for businesses today:

Promoting products and services: AI tools have made it much faster and easier to create promotional content (we must mention our Pitch Avatar here), develop marketing and advertising strategies, increase campaign efficiency, and optimize targeting.

Attracting and servicing customers: AI has enabled a qualitatively new level of personalization. It has become easier to form and present offers to potential and existing customers based on their interests, increasing conversion rates. Additionally, AI chatbots have improved the response speed of online sellers and support services. Today, AI agents can handle most standard customer service tasks around the clock—from supporting ordinary online purchases to answering most product/service-related questions. There are also AI tools that study customer reactions and feedback to offer conclusions and solutions based on their analysis.

Market research, forecasting, and pricing: Specialized AI products can analyze and predict market conditions in real-time, adjusting to consider the specific indicators of interest to the user. AI solutions track factors affecting market price fluctuations and create forecasts based on this data.

Personal assistants: Thanks to AI, every employee—even interns—can have their own secretary. A well-configured AI agent manages schedules, reminds of meetings and tasks, helps with correspondence, and generally works with texts. What was once the prerogative of top managers is now available to anyone who values their time and seeks to eliminate routine tasks to focus on primary objectives.

Moreover, there are AI solutions for accounting, record-keeping, risk assessment, employee search and training, company operations organization, and process management. In other words, AI can be used for practically all business activities.

Text work

In writing and editing texts, modern AI has created a revolution comparable to the emergence of text-editing software capable of correcting errors. Universal AIs like ChatGPT and specialized AI text tools can perform the work of a full-fledged editor and co-author. They can generate texts on a given topic, condense them, expand them, correct errors, find new turns of phrase, forms, and formats. Discussing the topic with AI for inspiration has become common. It doesn’t take much courage to predict that in the near future, most texts will be created with the help of artificial intelligence to some extent.

Design

The statement “Neural networks have made everyone an artist and designer” may seem exaggerated. However, there’s no doubt that they have significantly expanded the capabilities of both amateurs and professionals in this field. Even those without special skills can create high-quality visual content for entertainment or professional purposes, including images, slides, and videos. Social media, which consumes millions of such content units, has driven the popularity of AI image/video/animation generators and editors.

Security

First and foremost, this concerns data protection. Using specialized AI solutions for this purpose has become a necessity, especially since cybercriminals, unfortunately, do not hesitate to use AI for attacks.

Today, data security specialists have AI tools primarily used for threat monitoring, vulnerability detection, spam blocking, and malware combating. They analyze large volumes of data from various sources (code used, access settings and formats, user and employee behavior reports, network logs, infrastructure, etc.), identifying patterns and exceptions to detect, for instance, fraudulent actions, weak security spots, or unauthorized access attempts. Using machine learning and deep learning methods, AI learns to identify both known and unknown malware.

AI plays a crucial role in ensuring the security of banks and other financial institutions.

To conclude, we focused on areas where AI is deeply integrated today. We will dedicate a separate article to future predictions.

Wishing everyone success, prosperity, and high earnings!
